Renewed efforts to shut down car warranty robocalls by the FCC, state attorney generals, and carriers have nearly ended the practice. Nearly 1 billion car warranty robocalls per month were made in the first half of 2022. However, in July 2022, the FCC enacted new regulation authorizing and requiring carriers to cut off traffic from robocallers. The new regulation and several lawsuits by state attorney generals caused over a 99% decline in car warranty robocalls by September 2022. The FCC continues to aggressively pursue robocallers, blocking Global UC from the US phone network in November after failing to comply with the new regulation.
